Left-hand flute key extensions are available from flute-maker Brannon at
http://www.brannenflutes.com/extensions.html
The silver and plastic extensions snap on to your existing keys to provide a more comfortable and natural left hand position. They are specifically made for Brannon flutes; however, they may work for other flutes. I purchased mine 3 or 4 years ago for use on my Powell flute, and they fit perfectly. At the time, because I had a non-Brennon flute I was required to purchase the entire set of 8 extensions, and then return the ones which I did not want for a refund. This may still be the company policy. The extensions have significantly relieved my left arm pain, numbness, and tingling, and allow me to play for longer periods of time. I would very strongly recommend them for flutists with left arm discomfort and/or short fingers!

ALTHOUGH FLUTES COME IN STANDARD SIZES, IT IS CLEAR THAT FLAUTISTS DO NOT! FEW OF US ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF A HANDMADE FLUTE AT OUR DISPOSAL, SO WHAT CAN WE DO TO MAKE PLAYING MORE COMFORTABLE? ALEXA STILL LOOKS AT SOME OF THE WAYS IN WHICH YOU CAN TAILOR YOUR FLUTE TO YOUR OWN PERSONAL NEEDS.
